Last night the Fillmore Theater set the stage once more for the 27th annual Detroit Music Awards. Local musicians and their supporters were treated to energetic, live performances from up-and-coming artists to industry professionals alike. The ceremony also paid tribute to artists Melvin Davis, Allee Willis, and the original members of rock band ‘Sponge’ by awarding them the ‘Distinguished Achievement Award.’ Even for those not apart of the music community, the DMAs provided a great place to network and have a good time.

The DMAs gave us a chance to meet members from community organizations and artists such as Mariana Risquez, who was on hand as a nominee for ‘Outstanding World Vocalist’. We also had a chance to stop and chat with our multi-talented ‘Music Choice of the Month’ Chrissii Key!

Last night’s awards was packed with attendees who are keen on fashion and not afraid to use it for creative expression. A range of attire from beautiful ball gowns, graphic tees, and custom-made outfits could be seen during a quick glance of the room.
