How to Stick With Your Goals Throughout 2019

by | Jan 2, 2019 | Inspiration

2019 is here and your goals are in place. Your intention is to hit the ground running and have an amazing year. However, we’ve all heard how everything can fall apart if you don’t stay motivated. If you want a few ways to stick with your goals as the new year rolls on, we’ve listed a few things to help set you up for success.

Be Realistic

When we set goals for ourselves it’s easy get lost trying to work on everything at once. If your goal is to be a better designer in 2019, don’t cram your schedule with design challenges, personal projects, and trying to learn the latest creative software. You will only stretch yourself thin and often feel overwhelmed. Take a step back and spend some time structuring a schedule that works just for you. Break down your day into hourly sections and set a realistic routine that allows you to take steps toward your goal and leave time for your mind to rest as well.

Use apps to get organized

A huge part of being productive is having some form of organization. How will you ever smash your goal if you’re always forgetting what needs to be done? If you need help getting organized, we recommend checking out apps like Trello, Asana, or Airtable. All of these apps are great tools for planning out projects and staying on top of daily tasks.

Be easy on yourself

As you navigate the new year keep in mind that growth is a product of failure. If you’ve never run a business or painted a mural before how do you expect yourself to know how to do it the first time out? Putting that type of pressure on yourself will only cause you to feel stressed and defeated, and that’s not how it should be. Give yourself time to learn the ropes and develop your skill. There will be times where you will fall, but in those times remember why you started and pick yourself back up.

Travel

As you set out to conquer the world in 2019 don’t forget to practice self care. All to often we wait until burnout sets in to take time to recharge our mental batteries. In a previous article we talked about how traveling benefits your creativity and gives you time time to reset. As a matter of fact, we spent the last two weeks of December in Florida taking in the sights and getting our fill of creative inspiration.
