
Virtual Design Conferences and Events You Don’t Want to Miss in July
Design conferences have always been a great way to connect with other artists in your field of expertise. Although in-person events have shifted to online gatherings, the opportunity to learn from some of the brightest and best is still there. July may be known for the summer weather, but the events below are looking to bring the heat.
1. Front Row Conference 2020
The virtual conference will host some of the world’s design leaders and aims to pack as much value into its sessions as possible. Speakers include Tom Ross, Founder of Design Cuts, Ioana Adriana, UX Design Influencer, and Jacob Cass, Founder of Just Creative. 2. Talking about race and social justice with young children
As some parents know, explaining the fight for social justice and equality is not the easiest talk to have with youth. If you would like to learn strategies for discussing race, police violence, Black lives matter, and protests with children, join host Debbie LeeKeenan as she teaches how to facilitate these conversations. LeeKeenan is a Lecturer, Consultant, and Co-Author of “Leading Anti-Bias Early Childhood Programs: A Guide for Change”.

3. Navigating Workplace Microaggressions for Women of Color: Parts 2 + 3
This interactive webinar will examine case studies of the microaggressions that women of color face at work and explore how to construct effective responses to racial stress. The event is hosted by Jodi-Ann Burey, who is a speaker, writer, racial equity + healthcare entrepreneur and a diversity + inclusion consultant. Burey also holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan.

4. Typographics Festival
Contemporary typography. Design legend Paula Scher. A Book Fair. All of these can be found at this year’s Typographics Festival which is now in its sixth year. Aside from an impressive lineup of speakers, the Book Fair is where you can purchase items about lettering, modern graphic design, etc. If you have a special place in your heart for typography and all its beautiful glory, you’ll want to register for this festival asap.

5. Hue Design Summit
Created for Black designers and developers, the 2-day virtual conference will feature curated conversations and workshops to assist Visual, UX, and Industrial designers advance in the realm of technology. All passes include workshops and presentations from the 2020 summit, access to recorded sessions, virtual swag, and HUE After Hours content.
